Staycation: St. Augustine, FL, and Christmas Activities

After Christmas came last year we headed to St. Augustine for an overnighter. We spent time looking at the fort and enjoyed a good meal at the Raintree Cafe, as well as the Doubletree Inn's delicious chocolate chip cookies. Some other memorable moments was the cute wooden playground we found, and sleeping with Eliza in our bed. We may have only gotten 5 hours of broken sleep, and been kicked in the face a ton as she fell asleep, but it was so cute staying up late with her, cuddling her all night, and then waking up with her. Another memorable moment was taking Em to a candy shoppe and letting her pick some out and carry her little bag around. She loved it so much we did it multiple times, and she knew right where that little corner candy shop was. A trip highlight for me was seeing the St. Augustine lit up at night. The whole town pretty much sticks to white lights, and there is this park with huge trees where the lights are strung everywhere. It feels magical, like a Christmas wonderland in Florida.

We also participated in a lot of Christmas activities this year, made especially fun by the fact that Eliza is really enjoying it at the age of two and three quarters.

We saw santa on the firetruck, as well as at a Christmas party our friends threw- he gave her a pink unicorn back pack.

We also went and walked this one street in Satellite Beach that does their lights real big, and watched the boat parade from our boat on the canal.

Christmas morning, Em really got the hang of opening presents, and spent the next several days waking up to request more.

Another cute moment over the holidays is when Eliza ran around the house turning off all the lights, and then plugging the Christmas tree lights in (also, scary). She then cozied up on Charlie's big brown pillow from when he was a kid and just laid there looking at the lights.
