How We Wednesday

Had a lovely 34 hour visit from my sister this week. We celebrated the warmer weather with bike rides and hiking the Cress Creek trail, which only had a wee bit of snow on the trail. As you can see, Mace loved it and took as many opportunities to soak her legs in the mud as possible. Hello my little glimpse of spring, I hear you'll be visiting again this weekend.

Catching Up to Do

Well, it's been...weeks...since my last post? Here is a quick review of our lives as of lately.

We held the annual climbing comp two weekends ago. Jenna and Stephen came over from the 'tah, also. Oh, and we made it a blacklight comp. How sweet is that? I was pretty a little nervous at first, but in the end it all worked out. The holds were visible enough and the vibes were great. I loved helping front run, paint, and even set a little for the comp this year.

Our calling for the past few months has been nursery and Charly and I have been loving it. No, seriously, you guys...why would you ever want to sit through two hours of Sunday School and Relief Society when you can play with toys instead. And I love Relief Society, so that's saying something. It seems like once a week there's a kid that passes out on the floor from our new early morning church schedule. Last Sunday I held that little girl in Charly's arms across the room from him and our conversation went like this:

Girl points at Charly shyly.

Me: "Do you wanna go say hi to Charles?" She just shakes her head, then:

Girl: "I want him to hold me."

Needless to say I take her over there and she crawls up into his lap. Ten minutes later I look over and she's covered in dinosaurs and he's driving car across her. Can you say "aw" in a high pitched voice?

At home lately: Homemade ham and pineapple pizza, and currently watching Once Upon a Time and the British series Merlin as we pass the time on these cold winter nights. Things we've given up on: waking up early to go work out (no matter how much distance I put between my phone and bed, it's just not happening.)

Dean, Heather, Chuck, and I hiked the Teton Pass last weekend. The snow was dust on crust and I absolutely hated the hike, but it was an adventure well worth having with good people. Plus, it has me itching to get out more now. That last photo is from another snowboarding day. I forgot to put it up and couldn't resist letting you all see the little itty bitty goggle tan I received that day. Bonus: that's tomato soup in that thermos and it staying piping hot the whole day. I just love man's inventions.

And those are our days right now. Oh, and one more thing:

That is my brand new Trek Slash 8 with white, blue studded pedals. It's electric and navy (not black) blue. Husband also got one, only in a lager size for his man body (it's a man bike...but who cares?)

Snomoshooting at Mesa Falls

Chuck and I took the snowmachine up to Mesa Falls yesterday to hopefully get some shots on my 4x5. I must say, at a dollar twenty five to a dollar sixty a photo, I just wasn't feelin' it and only snapped a few with my digital. Charly spent the rest of the day teaching me how to carve that beast of a machine. As usual, when we got back to the truck, we let out our sweet puppy and Chuck took off on the snowmobile with her chasing after him. It's the most productive way to exercise that starting-to-get-a-little-too-chubby dog.

Three Snomoshredding Days

2.16.13
Spring Creek- Charly and the guys. Not me. I stayed home sick.

To check the layers of the snow you hit the shovel down into it- ten hits from the wrist, ten from the elbow, and ten from the arm.

I just can't remember the date.
Pole Canyon- Again, Charly and the guys. Still sick over here.

3.2.13
Spring Creek- Hey! It's me! And Joe, Chuck, and Marcy! Finally! After an hour of driving towards what Joe dubbed to be a "greybird day," it was almost as if the heavens made the conscious decision to open up just for me. The sun was merely sleeping in under those clouds and when we pulled up with our trailer of snowmobiles in tow it woke up and said "hello there, I am here to make your day warm and bright, because you deserve it." And you know what? I felt like I did deserve it. And you also know what? I got exactly what I deserved. I carved through the snow on my board and snow machine with some pretty greeeeat (said in the frosted flakes tiger voice) people. Chuck has become quite the pro at carving our sled down the mountain. He can lay it down to the side far enough for my knees to sink into the what-was-some-pretty-crunchy-snow that day, and somehow he always pulls out of it.

Do I look like a man-giant photobombing a cute couples picture or what?

I honestly wish I had the brains to upload video that was taking while riding. Oh well. You'll just have to imagine what it was like. Oh, and is there anything more handsome than a photo/video of your husband digging a pit for avalanche safety? (In case you were wondering what those holes were.) Despite the cream cheesy snow on the day I went, it was, and I quote: "a real blast." Also, I've fallen deeply in love with Burton's board the Con Artist. It floats like a dream. A real live floating dream.
