30 Weeks

Well, technically we are at 31 and a half weeks now. But getting to 30 weeks felt like such an accomplishment that it's stuck in my brain. So many other "milestones," such as 12 and 20 weeks didn't really feel that huge- not in terms of time, at least, and I've hardly been able to keep track of where I am at until now. Charly and I have spent our free time gathering the rest of the baby stuff we need and spending as much time with friends as possible. We definitely feel the changes of parenthood being brought on already- we use to spend every possible moment in the outdoors, but now we have been cherishing our time with people where we get to chance to acutally talk more and more. Our days are filled with more Friday night drives to Driggs to eat Thai, lunch dates, Halloween/Superbowl parties, movies preceded with Chick-fil-a and followed by frozen yogurt, dinner dates during the week, and putting the final touches on the nursery. Charly might groan a little at that last one, but I swear that painting needs to be moved up just another inch ;). Last weekend Charly took a half day and we drove up to Blackfoot to sew some things for the nursery for about eight hours straight. We got home late and crawled into bed only to wake up and head out the door at 5am to go to the Burton showroom/ OR show in Salt Lake. I've never slept so well in a car, but seeing the new products and talking with Dean about finding the perfect climbing jacket made it all worth it. So, although we are probably eating out a bit more, especially on the weekdays, we are really cherishing these moments that we are able to spend with such good people before it takes an extra thirty minutes to get out the door.

Last night we had a last minute dinner date with our good friends Dean and Heather and I am just so, so, excited for summer to come. They are in the process of finding the perfect bike setups and so right now our conversations are usually centered around mountain biking, my second love next to climbing. I'm still not sure how much I will be able to do with my hips, but we are hopeful that there will be some time to play and heal. I'll probably write about it more to come, but basically, between some trial and error in physical therapy with a specialist in Driggs, my podiatrist, and my orthopod, they think I may need surgery on one or two of them, and surgery on my left foot for sure. I was in the process of having my hips diagnosed and getting surgery on my foot but then pregnancy kind of slowed my roll...to a complete stop... as the procedures are too risky with a babe.

BUT, my bike is at the shop, waiting patiently to have my new seat post and pedals put on it, some cute summer clothes I found on sale were freshly hung in my closet yesterday night, and the supplies I need to build a soft cushiony headboard for the bed in the nursery are in the mail. So I'll either be riding the trails, shuttling Charly and friends in a cute outfit, or completely laid up in a comfy bed right next to our baby girl.

These baby bananas were too cute not to buy, and now we have way, way, way too many bananas. Hello freezer.

Rexburg has had some gloriously foggy days resulting in a very winter wonderland esque look. It was a lot dreamier on my walk in real life.

My super awesome parents sent us this for Christmas...that harness will hold, right?

I don't think I ever got around to sharing our gingerbread houses from this year. Mine's the closer one. I look forward to making these all year- Charly's mom bakes the gingerbread herself and they are delicious.

Charly coming to say hi to me between runs at Targhee and an early morning pit stop to wax his board.

Nesting is a real emotion, one that will slowly make your house look like a hurricane spun through it before it actually becomes the cleanest and most organized it has even been in it's entire existence. We are making progress, people.

Saying Hello to 2015

Happy New Year!
and
Merry Late Christmas!

We spent Christmas in Blackfoot this year where we woke up to white blankets of snow on the ground. It was beautiful, cold, and made all the better with the slippers Charly's mom made me for Christmas. Then we spent new year's eve with a group of other couples who started out being Charly's friends from high school and then grew over the years as wives and children were added. We ate empanadas with ahi among other things and it was so, so good. Sean's wife, Dianne, and her family come from Colombia so anytime she's cooking we know it's gonna be good. Then we headed home a bit early, Charly packed and loaded his sled for another day on the snow (he went up to Targhee the day after Christmas with his dad and brothers and got to use his split board on a powder day last Monday for the first time), and we rang in the new year in our onesies watching a few videos on youtube to give us a laugh before going to sleep.

The rest of winter will probably be a flurry of us getting ready for the baby and me reading books in the lodge while Charly shreds at Targhee on the weekend. The two Saturdays before Christmas we did that and so far I am loving "Looking for Alaska" by John Greene. I try not to let myself read ahead unless I'm up there though because I would make us broke buying books if I did... although we did just buy the Lord of the Rings trilogy so I think I should be set for a little while.

So here's to 2015, for accomplishing the goals we set in 2014, and for surviving the first year of parenthood as ours for the next!
