On Not Getting Out There

This Thursday the weather decided it wanted to play nice and we got our first chance to go climb outdoors. Pointless (as in the crag)? I think yes. Kristin leading ropegun? Another big fat yes. Kristin leading ropegun fearlessly? Oh yes oh yes oh yes. Even though the wind shook me as I approached the top of the second climb, it was a perfect day. The first day of warm outdoor activities. Life was falling miraculously into place.

And then it happened. Charly succumbed to the terrible head cold he'd been fighting off for a week and we spent the whole of the weekend indoors watching Nikita, eating saltine crackers and spicy thai food (because I can jump on any reason to order Original Thai). Plus there was a lot of me giving foot rubs and back rubs and lots of "are you sure you don't wanna take a sick day off on Monday?" He didn't. He never does. "Sick days are for when I'm actually sick," he says. Although he seemed pretty sick to not step outside on the first day it's hit the seventies all year.

He just wouldn't let me take a photo of his sick face.

Also: Chuck found a way to fasten those bike trailers onto our friend's bikes. Kind of makes me maybe want one after hearing stories of all the bike camping adventures they'll be going on this summer.

Hiking the R

Lately we have been doing a lot of that (pardon the crappy iphone picture), and a lot of nothin' else. Hence the break in posts. And the one time I went to take my camera up there and capture the view was the one time it rained on us. It was cold and wet, but we still hiked it. Just opted to leave the camera behind. Other then that Charly and I have spent our lunches and last hour of work at the shop on the weekdays, and have been putting in more Saturdays, and dreaming of warmer weather. Right now we're in that transitional phase between winter and summer sports. Too late to do one, but not late enough in the year to do the other. So we wait. We watch Nikita, play cards with friends, and figure out ways to rig up bike trailers to certain bikes.

In light of summer approaching, it's only appropriate to set up some excitements. Not goal, just things we are excited for. Here goes:

Hiking the middle. Maybe.
Bike camping.
Backcountry camping (hiking).
Sno cones from the sno shack.
Photo projects I've planned for over a year to do.
Finishing my second to last semester of work.
Hellroaring Lake.
Zions National Park (hiking the narrows).
Bolting more lines on Midget Widget.
Jenna Blair say "yes" to the one (I've never been inside the Salt Lake Temple and they make one cute couple.)
Spending time with family hiking and camping.
Riding my beauty of a bike.
Barbecues and slushy homemade lemonadada.
And so much more, so much more people. It's summer. It's coming. It's warm weather, sun kissed skin, seven year old shorts and brand new tees.
